We are able to extensively re-engineer most cylinder heads and fit valve seat inserts for use with unleaded and LPG fuels for classic, modern cars and light commercial vehicles.
Prior to machining, heads are hot washed and checked visually for cracks and corrosion, then pressure tested on our DELTA 6000 S/L pressure tester which gives fast and accurate results. Heads can be tested at up to 70psi dry or 100psi with water, hot or cold. Corroded heads are TIG welded to repair, usually around the waterways.
Worn valve guides are reclaimed by fitting bronze guide liners, we use K LINE 'Bronze Bullet Interrupted Spiral' or RAPID 'Diamond' guide liners. We have found that this is a much better method of reclaiming valve guides as in some cases damage can occur to the guide bosses when removing & refitting guides, resulting in the guide becoming loose in the head.
All our valve seat work, including UNLEADED CONVERSION'S, is carried out on our SERDI Millennium 3.0 valve seat & guide machine for unrivalled accuracy in cutting 3 angle & radius valve seats, valve guide machining and valve seat insert counter boring on 8 valve or multi valve heads.
Results checked on our SUPERFLOW SF110 flowbench show that on some heads a 3 angle or radius valve seat plus some mild porting around the valve throat area and deflashing can increase flow by up to 20%. In my opinion the SUPERFLOW SF110 is currently the best available bench in the UK for flow testing most UK, European and Japanese heads. All our modified & race heads are checked on the flow bench and it is used extensively in our on going race engine R & D programme.
We are currently installing our own HEENAN & FROUDE dynamometer test cell with 250bhp capability. We consider this to be ideal for testing all our UK oval race engines including National Hot Rod engines. Our chief 'dyno' tester is an ex. E.R.A. technician with many years experience in testing many different types of engines.
We are expanding our race engine building service to include most types of UK National & Club Race & Rally formula including end of season rebuilds on customers own engines.

Unleaded Conversions |
|
We can fit hardened valve seats to enable older engines to run safely on Unleaded Fuel. Cast iron valve seats erode without lead in petrol to protect the seat. Modern materials used in replacement valve seats allow the use of unleaded fuel.
